Alive From the Dead

"I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." ...Romans 12:1

These words take us beyond the mere individual for they imply contribution to a whole. The "presenting" is individual but the service is corporate. There are many bodies brought to Him, but the outcome is one living sacrifice. All intelligent or reasonable service to God is like this. It is essentially one service, in which we are nevertheless each to have our personal part. None may feel that what he brings is worthless to God, for it is not counted as one more or less among many separate sacrifices. Each life yielded to Him is required, so that together they may constitute that one complete whole which, we are assured, is acceptable to God. And if God is satisfied, shall not we be?

Today in the real Church which is Christ's body, there is a lack of individual willingness to present ourselves to God as alive from the dead. We do not see ourselves, as God sees us, as alive in Christ Jesus and delivered from all that we were of before Jesus became a reality in our lives. We need God to so open our eyes that we see ourselves now as He sees us, which is, realistically, the way we are! Alive with abundant eternal life! Full of grace and truth having been baptized with God's own uncreated Life! Born again of God in Jesus Christ! When we see this reality, what less can we do but to present ourselves to Him?
